What to Expect

Carrickfergus Men’s Shed is a community hub for creative pursuits, providing a welcoming space for men to come together for hands-on projects, social conversation and community connection. Activities vary week to week but typically include woodwork, small repairs, crafts and group projects, with tea and chat a constant fixture. The shed is registered with the Irish Men’s Sheds Association, which lists Carrickfergus among 21 active sheds across County Antrim, alongside neighbouring groups in Newtownabbey, Glengormley and Portglenone. Men’s Sheds exist to tackle isolation and support wellbeing in later life, giving members a reason to leave the house, learn a skill and be part of a team without any pressure to talk about feelings directly - the work itself is often the way in.

Getting There

Carrickfergus is on the A2 coast road, about 16 miles north-east of Belfast, and is served directly by Translink rail from Belfast Great Victoria Street and Yorkgate.
