Burren National Park Free Guided Walks

What to Expect

Burren National Park rangers and guides offer free guided walks from the Information Point in Corofin, running from April through September. Walks cover the Burren’s remarkable karst limestone landscape, which contains wedge tombs of Neolithic origin, Iron Age forts, early Christian churches and medieval monasteries across a unique open-air archaeology museum. Topics on guided walks include geology, botany (the Burren is Ireland’s foremost wildflower habitat), ancient monuments and the farming practices that have shaped the landscape. Booking in advance is essential as places are limited.

• Walks run April to end of August; Information Point open six months of the year.

• Free shuttle bus runs from the Information Point to the Gortlecka trailhead, 14 times daily from 9:30am, 1 May to end of August.
• The Burren is part of the Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark.

Getting There

Corofin is approx. 20km north of Ennis on the R476. The shuttle bus to the trailhead departs the Information Point; first bus 9:30am.
