What to Expect

Local guide Martin Haugh leads heritage walks covering Kilkee’s Victorian seaside resort history and the wider Loop Head Peninsula. The Kilkee Heritage Walk explores how the town developed from the 1830s as a fashionable resort for wealthy visitors from Ireland and overseas, with many of the original Georgian and Victorian buildings still standing. Other tours cover the monastic walk at Kilcredaun, near Carrigaholt, as well as coastal landscapes featuring castles, churches, shipwrecks and smugglers’ coves along the Loop Head cliffs.

Kilkee is on the Loop Head Peninsula, accessible from Ennis via the N68 through Kilrush (approx. 60km). Bus Eireann services run from Ennis and Limerick to Kilkee in summer.
