Cork City Gaol on Convent Avenue at Sunday’s Well is a beautifully restored 19th-century prison where visitors can learn about its famous inmates, their crimes, escapes, and the gruesome conditions prisoners endured for almost a century. Guided tours are included with admission and offered every 30 minutes throughout the day. A daily guided tour is typically offered at 2pm. The gaol also offers private evening tours for groups outside normal opening hours.
Cork City Gaol is at Sunday’s Well, approximately 1.5km north-west of Cork city centre. Accessible by bus or on foot via the Sunday’s Well Road.
