What to Expect

TEND/ER is an exhibition by Sligo based artist Lorna Watkins, showing painting, printmaking and sculpture at Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart from 13 September to 31 October 2026. The work explores ideas around the home, overlooked everyday objects, motherhood and ageing, with recurring references to the body drawn from Watkins’ decade long life drawing practice. Watkins studied Printed Textile Design at the National College of Art and Design and has held a Ballinglen Fellowship, with pieces held in public and private collections including the Ulster Hospital and the Ballinglen Arts Foundation. The show opens on Saturday 13 September at 12 noon with free admission, the same day as two further exhibitions launching at Flowerfield, giving visitors three new shows to see in one trip. A ticketed Multimedia Painting Masterclass with the artist follows on Sunday 1 November from 11am to 1pm, with booking required.

Flowerfield Arts Centre is Portstewart’s dedicated creative hub, run by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, with a purpose built gallery, pottery studio, media workshop and 150 seat auditorium in a converted Georgian building on the Coleraine Road. The centre runs a rolling programme of exhibitions, live music and workshops throughout the year.
