At Multiple venues - Ballina, Westport and Castlebar · Ballina, Westport and Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Designer Minds runs its STEAM day camps in three Mayo towns in August 2026, giving primary-school-aged children a week of science, technology, engineering, art and maths activities during the summer break.
The camps are day camps rather than residential, dropping children off in the morning and collecting them in the early afternoon, and are open to children entering first to sixth class, roughly 6.5 to 12 years old. Designer Minds builds its national programme around hands-on STEAM projects rather than classroom-style lessons, mixing building, experiments and design challenges through the day so children are working with their hands throughout rather than sitting and listening. Ballina and Westport both run a four-day camp from Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 August, 9am to 2pm, while Castlebar runs a five-day camp later in the month, from Monday 17 to Friday 21 August, 9am to 1pm. Because the three camps run in different weeks, a family with children in more than one town, or wanting to space out childcare across the summer, can potentially use more than one location rather than being limited to a single week. Booking is handled through the national camp finder rather than locally, with a EUR 30 deposit securing a place and the balance due before the camp starts.
Exact venue addresses for each town’s camp are confirmed at booking rather than published on the general camps page. Ballina, Westport and Castlebar are all on Mayo’s main Bus Eireann and rail routes, making drop-off from surrounding towns straightforward.
