What to Expect

Donegal Local Development Company (DLDC) runs a series of free “Donegal Climate Conversation” sessions across the county in early September 2026, asking local community groups what support they need to become more climate positive. Confirmed sessions on Wednesday 2 September run at Bundoran Community Centre from 10.30am to noon, at The Base Enterprise Centre in Stranorlar from 7pm to 8.30pm, and at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town from 2.30pm. DLDC’s listings also describe further daytime sessions the same week in Letterkenny and Dunfanaghy, though exact times for those two were not published at the time of writing, so groups in those areas should check DLDC’s channels directly for confirmation.

Each stop on the tour is pitched as a working session rather than a lecture, with DLDC staff facilitating discussion rather than presenting a fixed programme. The stated aim is to map out what training and support community groups, sports clubs, tidy towns committees and similar voluntary bodies actually need to make progress on climate action locally, rather than DLDC deciding the agenda centrally. Bundoran Community Centre is on Main Street in the town centre; the Stranorlar and Donegal Town sessions are similarly central, at the Base Enterprise Centre on Railway Road and the Abbey Hotel respectively, so all three confirmed venues are within easy walking distance of parking in their respective towns.
