At Coolock and Artane Villages · Coolock & Artane, Dublin 5
The Coolock Artane Festival is one of those local summer events that genuinely belongs to the people who live there. Running from 24 to 28 June 2026, it brings the two neighbouring north Dublin communities together for live music, street entertainment, food and the kind of atmosphere that comes from a place celebrating itself. It is free to attend, family-friendly, and if you have connections to the northside, it is worth getting to at least one evening of it.
The festival spans the Coolock and Artane villages area in Dublin 5, with activity spread across the five days rather than concentrated into a single afternoon. Expect live music from local and Irish acts, street performances, food vendors, and community-run activities aimed at families with young children. The format is open-air, informal, and easy to dip in and out of - no ticketing system, no advance booking. Events run at different times across the five days so it is worth checking local social media and community notice boards as the dates approach for the daily programme.
Coolock and Artane sit on Dublin’s north side, roughly 8 km from the city centre. By Dublin Bus, the 14, 15, 17 and 27 routes all serve the area - journey time from O’Connell Street is around 25 to 35 minutes. If you are driving from the M50, take the N32 exit towards Coolock and follow signage for Coolock Village. Street parking is generally available around the villages on evenings and at weekends, though it may fill up during busy festival sessions. Dublin Bikes does not extend this far north, so the bus is the practical choice.
Coolock and Artane are residential northside communities that do not see many visitors passing through, which gives the festival its genuine local character. The area has its own library, community centres and a long history as one of Dublin’s largest post-war housing developments. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
