At Applewood Community Center · Applewood, Swords, Dublin
If you have ever wanted to spend a Sunday morning hunting for a copy of a game you played as a kid, or just want to browse thousands of titles without the algorithm telling you what to care about, the Swords Video Game Fair is a good way to spend a Sunday. Organised by Replay Games and Rewind Retro Gaming - two of the better-known names on the Irish retro circuit - this is a strictly games-only indoor marketplace: no toys, no comics, no general car-boot clutter. Just games, consoles, accessories and the people who actually know what they are talking about.
Over 20 vendors from across Ireland set up at Applewood Community Centre for the day. The stock runs from Atari and early Nintendo through Sega, PlayStation, Xbox and modern releases - so whether your interest is in a boxed SNES cartridge or picking up a recent title at a fair price, there is usually something worth stopping at. Rare collectibles surface regularly, and the atmosphere is more community meet-up than formal convention. Vendors include names who have traded at previous events around Dublin, and the organisers have run similar fairs in Blanchardstown and other locations, so this is a practised setup rather than a first attempt. Children under 14 are welcome with a parent or guardian, which makes it a reasonable family outing if you have a young gamer in tow. The event runs from 11 AM to 4 PM - Early Entry tickets get you in at 11 AM, while General Entry opens at 12:30 PM.
