Irish Focus: Amanda + Q&A

At Irish Film Institute · 6 Eustace Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, Co. Dublin

Documentary screening and Q&A at the Irish Film Institute

What to Expect

Irish Focus is the IFI’s monthly strand dedicated to new Irish filmmaking, giving emerging documentary and feature work a dedicated cinema slot rather than a single festival run. August’s edition screens Amanda, a documentary portrait of artist Amanda Cullen, who has painted in isolation for years and used art as both expression and refuge. The film follows Cullen reclaiming her own narrative after being institutionalised and spoken about by others, presenting her work as a form of testimony in its own right. The screening on Wednesday 26 August is followed by a Q&A, giving the audience a chance to hear directly from those involved in the film.

Good to Know

  • Screens Wednesday 26 August 2026 at the IFI, with a post-screening Q&A; check ifi.ie for the confirmed start time closer to the date.
  • Standard IFI ticket prices apply, from around €12 for earlier slots up to €15 for peak evening screenings, with a small online booking fee at shop.ifi.ie.
  • Irish Focus runs monthly with a different Irish film each time, so this slot is followed by a new title the following month rather than repeating.
