Cinema Nights at Mermaid Arts Centre

At Mermaid Arts Centre · Main Street, Bray, Co. Wicklow

Cinema screen at Mermaid Arts Centre

Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray screens a film most Monday nights at 8pm, mixing new Irish and international releases with the occasional documentary and classic revival. The next screening, on Monday, 10 August 2026, is Trad, Lance Daly’s drama about a young Donegal fiddle player who leaves the strict traditions of her home behind to join a troupe of wandering musicians, starring Aidan Gillen, Sarah Greene and Ann Skelly. A different film follows most weeks through the autumn programme.

What to expect

The Monday slot is Mermaid’s regular cinema strand, alternating between Irish drama, subtitled international releases and documentaries rather than following a single theme. Confirmed titles running through September include DJ Ahmet on 17 August, 500 Miles on 24 August, Diamanti on 31 August, Fairyland on 7 September, Colours of Time on 14 September, Familiar Touch on 21 September and Power Ballad on 28 September. Certificates and running times vary by film and are listed on the booking page for each screening. Films are shown in Mermaid’s main auditorium with standard cinema seating, and tickets are usually available on the door as well as online, though popular titles can sell out. Full and concession pricing applies across the strand, with concession tickets a few euro cheaper than full price.

Getting there

Mermaid Arts Centre is on Main Street in Bray, a short walk from Bray Daly DART station and close to Dublin Bus and Bus Éireann stops in the town centre. Evening screenings generally finish in time to catch a late DART back to Dublin on most nights.

While you’re in Bray
