IFI Odysseys Season: Closing Weekend

What to Expect

Odysseys has been the IFI’s summer season since 1 July, taking Homer’s Odyssey and its themes of journey, exile, homecoming and survival as a thread through twelve films. The line-up has ranged from O Brother, Where Art Thou? and Paris, Texas to Apocalypse Now: The Final Cut and Aguirre, the Wrath of God, running alongside Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey in an exclusive 70mm presentation, which the IFI is one of the only cinemas in Ireland able to project. The season reaches its final weekend on 8 and 9 August with two of its centrepiece choices: Michael Cimino’s The Deer Hunter screens Saturday 8 August at 3:15pm, and John Ford’s The Searchers screens Sunday 9 August at 3:40pm.

• Standard IFI ticket prices apply, from around €12 for weekday matinees up to €15 for weekend evening slots, with a small online booking fee.
• Season bundles were available through the run at €30 for three films, €60 for six and €120 for the full twelve, though these are likely to close as the season ends.
• IFI 25 & Under cardholders (ages 16 to 25) get discounted tickets; sign-up is free.

Getting There

The Irish Film Institute is on Eustace Street in Temple Bar, Dublin 2, a five-minute walk from College Green and served by Dublin Bus routes along Dame Street. Tara Street and Pearse DART stations are both within fifteen minutes on foot, and the Luas Red Line stop at Jervis is a short walk across the Ha’penny Bridge.
