Dublin Senior 2 Club Hurling Championship - Group Stage

What to Expect

Senior 2 is the promotion tier feeding into Dublin’s top hurling grade, and its group stage runs through August at club grounds across the county. Saturday 15 August has St Sylvester’s hosting Kilmacud Crokes at Broomfield, Craobh Chiaráin facing Thomas Davis at Clonshaugh and Clontarf meeting Raheny at St Annes Park for Group 1, and Naomh Mearnog hosting Ballyboden St Enda’s in Portmarnock, St Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh facing Castleknock at Martin Savage Park and Commercials meeting Ballinteer St Johns in Rathcoole for Group 2. All games throw in at 18:30. A rearranged Group 2 fixture between Ballyboden St Enda’s and St Oliver Plunkett’s Eoghan Ruadh follows later, on Thursday 27 August at Sancta Maria. Several of the clubs in this grade, including Clontarf and Craobh Chiaráin, have strong hurling traditions that predate the modern championship structure, and a promotion campaign here carries real weight within the club.

Getting There

St Annes Park is on the Clontarf Road, close to Clontarf DART station and served by Dublin Bus routes along the coast road. Broomfield in Malahide and Portmarnock’s grounds are on the DART line’s northern branch, both reachable from Malahide or Portmarnock stations with a short onward walk or local bus. Other grounds, including Clonshaugh and Rathcoole, are best reached by car; check the host club’s page on dublingaa.ie for directions, and factor in extra travel time for the more outlying grounds toward the county boundary.
