At The Button Factory · Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, Co. Dublin
Leaving Cert results day has become one of the fixed points on Dublin’s nightlife calendar, and The Button Factory’s take on it is billed by organisers Wynwood Events as the city’s biggest house and dance party for the occasion. The venue opens across three floors for the night, with a rooftop outdoor area added to the mix, and a run of guest DJs booked to keep all three rooms moving from 10:30pm through to 2:30am. It draws a young crowd marking the end of school with the traditional first big night out, alongside plenty of past students back for the ritual of it. Organisers have flagged that the night regularly sells out in advance given how central it has become to the results-day tradition, so booking ahead rather than turning up on spec is the sensible move.
The Button Factory itself is one of Temple Bar’s better-equipped mid-size venues, built for exactly this kind of high-capacity dance night, with a sound system that holds up across genres and enough floor space to spread a big crowd across multiple rooms without it feeling like a crush.
The Button Factory is on Curved Street in Temple Bar. The Luas Red Line stops at Jervis, an eight-minute walk across the river, and Dublin Bus routes serve Dame Street two minutes away. Given how busy results night gets across the whole Temple Bar area, expect queues on the door and heavier than usual footfall on the surrounding streets from mid-evening onward, so building in extra time to get there is worth it.
Temple Bar is packed with bars, late-night food spots and other venues within a couple of minutes’ walk, so it is easy to combine the night with dinner or a few drinks elsewhere beforehand. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
