Dublin Senior Football Championship 2026

At Parnell Park & Various · Across Dublin

Dublin Senior Football Championship

The Dublin Senior Football Championship is the longest-running show in club GAA, running from the first weekend of July right through to an October county final. It is the competition that Dublin’s inter-county players genuinely care about - the county jersey is a privilege, but winning the Clerys Perpetual Cup with your club is a different kind of pride entirely. Once the summer inter-county season finishes and the big names return to Kilmacud Crokes, Na Fianna, Ballyboden St Endas, Cuala and the rest, the standard lifts sharply and the games become genuinely hard to miss. Good for football fans of any background, and for visitors who want to see the sport played at a serious level without paying Croke Park prices.

What to expect

The championship runs in rounds from July, with group stages generating local derbies across venues all over the county before the bigger knockout games concentrate at Parnell Park in Donnycarney. By the quarter-final and semi-final stage, Parnell Park delivers something that the larger grounds rarely can - a compact, covered stand, three sides of terracing, and a crowd close enough to the pitch that you can hear the calls. Capacity sits around 7,300 so the ground fills up and the noise builds. County finalists are also chasing a place in the Leinster and All-Ireland club championships, which adds edge to the later rounds. The clubs involved - St Vincent’s, Thomas Davis, Raheny, Lucan Sarsfields, Ballinteer St John’s, Castleknock, Clontarf among others - each bring their own followings, and derbies between neighbouring clubs tend to carry a particular edge. Fixtures and draws are published on the Dublin GAA website at dublingaa.ie as the season progresses.

Getting there

Parnell Park sits in Donnycarney in Dublin’s northside, about 4 km from the city centre. The ground is a short walk from Harmonstown DART station on the Howth line, which makes it easy to get to from Connolly, Pearse, and the south city. Several Dublin Bus routes serve the Malahide Road and Donnycarney Road corridors. Street parking is available in the surrounding residential roads for those driving, though it fills quickly before bigger games. For inter-county matches at Croke Park nearby, rail and bus work better than driving into that part of Dublin 3.

While you’re in Dublin

A match at Parnell Park sits easily alongside a day in the city - the northside has good pubs for a pre-match pint and Clontarf and the Bull Island are a short drive away for a walk on the coast. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
