Hadestown: Teen Edition brings the Tony Award-winning folk-opera to the dlr Mill Theatre in Dundrum for a four-night run from Wednesday 26 to Saturday 29 August 2026, performed by a cast of young local performers under the theatre’s own youth production banner.
The show reimagines the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice through a modern folk and blues score, following young musician Orpheus as he tries to rescue his beloved Eurydice from the industrial underworld of Hadestown, ruled over by King Hades and his wife Persephone. The Mill Theatre’s production notes describe the piece as blending “soulful melodies, toe-tapping rhythms, and deeply moving themes of love, hope, and resilience,” in a version specially adapted for a teenage cast and crew.
The creative team is led by director Niamh McGowan, with Shauna Carrick as musical director, Laura McDonagh as choreographer, Kris Mooney on lighting design and Vinny Osborne handling sound. As with the Mill’s other youth theatre productions, the show gives its young cast a professional stage and full production values, including a live band, in one of South Dublin’s best-equipped small theatres.
Performances run at 7:30pm each night from Wednesday to Saturday, with an additional 2:30pm matinee on the Saturday for family audiences who prefer an earlier start. Tickets start from €23, bookable directly through the Mill Theatre box office or website; given the run is only four nights, early booking is recommended, particularly for the Saturday matinee, which tends to draw families.
