Dunfanaghy Country Market

At Oznam Centre, Dunfanaghy · Oznam Centre, Dunfanaghy, Co. Donegal

Stalls at Dunfanaghy Country Market in the Oznam Centre

What to Expect

Dunfanaghy Country Market runs every Saturday morning from 11am at the Oznam Centre in the middle of the village, one of the prettiest stops on Donegal’s north coast near Horn Head and Sheephaven Bay. It operates seasonally rather than year-round, running from mid-April through to October, which lines up with Dunfanaghy’s busiest visitor months. Local traders sell crafts and produce in the same country market format used across Donegal, small stalls under one roof rather than an outdoor row of vans, giving shoppers and passing tourists somewhere to browse for an hour on a Saturday morning before the rest of the village’s shops, cafes and galleries open up for the day.

Getting There

Dunfanaghy is on the N56 on Donegal’s north coast, roughly 20 to 25 minutes from Letterkenny through Kilmacrennan and Termon, and is served by Local Link bus routes along that road. The Oznam Centre is in the village centre within easy walking distance of the main street, where on-street parking is the usual option for visitors. There is no rail service in this part of north Donegal, so the market is realistically reached by car or bus rather than by train.

Dunfanaghy sits close to Horn Head, the Ards Forest Park and the well known Dunfanaghy Workhouse heritage centre, all within a few minutes’ drive, and the market is one of several similar Saturday and weekday country markets running across the county over the summer season, alongside comparable stalls in Ramelton, Buncrana, Carndonagh and Killybegs.
