At Iveagh Gardens · Clonmel Street, Dublin 2
Elvis Costello and the Imposters bring their “Radio Soul!” tour to Dublin on 5 July 2026, taking over the Iveagh Gardens for a show focused squarely on the early catalogue - songs from the run of albums between 1977 and 1986, from the raw, angry debut My Aim Is True through Blood & Chocolate. Guitarist Charlie Sexton joins as support. For anyone who grew up with Oliver’s Army, Alison, Pump It Up or Everyday I Write the Book, this is a rare chance to hear that material performed in full by the band that recorded it. Costello’s Irish connections run deep - his father, Ross McManus, was a well-known musician on the Dublin scene - and Dublin audiences tend to get a warmer show for it.
The Iveagh Gardens is one of the better outdoor venues in Europe for this kind of show - compact enough (capacity around 5,000) that even a general-admission floor position puts you close to the stage, with the sunken garden design creating a natural amphitheatre effect. The concert series here runs annually across summer and has built a reputation for good sound and a crowd that actually listens.
Gates open at 6:30pm. There is no re-admission once you leave, so time your arrival and your food stop accordingly. Bag restrictions are strict - keep to A4 size or smaller, leave umbrellas, glass, cans, folding chairs and selfie sticks at home. No alcohol can be brought in. An accessible viewing platform is available on site. Dress for Irish summer weather, which means bring a layer regardless of the forecast.
The Iveagh Gardens sits just off Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, with the main entrance for concerts on Clonmel Street. The easiest approach by public transport is the Luas Green Line to Harcourt - the walk from the stop to the gate takes under two minutes. Numerous Dublin Bus routes serve Harcourt Street and the surrounding roads. There is no on-site parking, and Harcourt Street itself fills quickly on concert nights; public transport is the practical choice.
The Iveagh Gardens are a few minutes’ walk from St Stephen’s Green, Grafton Street and the Grand Canal area, so it is easy to make a full evening of the trip with a meal or a drink before the gates open. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
