At Clare Co-operative Marts, Ennis Mart · Quin Road, Ennis, Co. Clare, V95 APF2
Every Tuesday at 11am, Ennis Mart on the Quin Road runs its weekly sale of calves, runners, weanlings and suckler stock, one of the busiest fixtures on the Clare Co-operative Marts calendar. Farmers bring stock in from early morning for penning and weighing before the ring opens, and the auctioneer moves through lots of dairy-bred and suckler-bred calves, forward stores and breeding females as buyers, both local farmers restocking and factory or export agents, bid in the ring or online. On the first Tuesday of every month the sale includes a dedicated organic stock section for farmers operating under organic certification schemes, which tends to draw a specialist run of buyers looking to fill quota for organic beef supply chains. Ennis Mart is the head office and largest yard in the four-strong Clare Co-operative Marts network, alongside Kilrush, Scariff and Kilfenora, and its Tuesday sale is generally the best-attended weanling and store sale in the county outside of the main autumn selling season. Prices and entries are reported on the claremarts.ie website after each sale, and remote bidding is available through the MartBids platform for registered users.
The mart is on the Quin Road on the southern side of Ennis, close to the N18/N19 junction and a short drive from the town centre. On-site parking is free and there is space for livestock trailers.
