At St Joseph's Community Centre · Ashe Road, Shantalla, Galway, H91 A4VW
Family Circus is a parent-and-child class run by Galway Community Circus, a long-established Galway charity that teaches circus skills across the city. It is built for children aged 4 and up, with siblings as young as 1 allowed to join in too, and the whole point is that adults take part alongside their kids rather than dropping them off. Sessions work through balancing, juggling, aerial basics and acrobatics through games and structured activities, with a focus on playing together, building trust between leading and following, and learning to spot and manage physical risk as a family. Galway Community Circus runs the class on a one-parent, one-child minimum policy, so at least one adult must register and take part alongside each child, and it is set up to suit families with children living with disabilities as well as those without. It is a genuinely hands-on hour: you are not sitting on the sidelines watching, you are the other half of the act.
St Joseph’s Community Centre is on Ashe Road in Shantalla, on the north side of Galway city, a short drive or bus ride from the city centre. Local Bus Éireann city services run through Shantalla, and there is on-street parking near the community centre. From Eyre Square it is roughly a 10-minute drive or a 25-minute walk.
