At Feile Marquee, Falls Park and venues across West Belfast · Falls Park, Falls Road, Belfast, Co. Antrim
Féile an Phobail - the West Belfast Festival - is one of the largest community arts festivals in Europe, and for two and a half weeks every summer it transforms Falls Road and the surrounding streets into a city-wide celebration of culture, music, sport and Irish language. This is not a sanitised tourist product; it grew directly out of the West Belfast community in 1988, established in the aftermath of the Troubles as a way of showing a different side of the city to the world. Nearly four decades on, the festival draws over 120,000 visitors across more than 600 events, and it remains rooted in the principle that culture should be accessible to everyone - many events are free or very low cost.
The 2026 programme runs from 24 July to 9 August and spans more than 50 venues across the city. The main anchor is the Féile Marquee at Falls Park on the Falls Road, which hosts headline concerts on weekend evenings - tickets for these sell in advance through Ticketmaster. Beyond the marquee, the schedule fans out across the city with comedy nights, the Féile 10k road race, the Country Fest, an ever-popular 80s/90s night, literary events, theatre, film, workshops, trad music sessions, Irish language programming, visual arts exhibitions and community walks. The 2026 edition is particularly significant because it overlaps with the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann, being held in Belfast for the first time, which is expected to bring an additional 800,000 visitors to the city. Coming in July and early August, you can expect events running morning to late night every day. The full programme is published at feilebelfast.com before the festival opens, and it is worth checking it a few weeks ahead to plan your picks and book any ticketed shows early.
Belfast is served by two airports - Belfast International (about 30 minutes by coach or car) and George Best Belfast City Airport (about 15 minutes from the city centre by bus or taxi). From Dublin, Enterprise trains run directly to Belfast Central in just over two hours, and Translink buses connect the rail network to the city centre. Falls Park is on the Falls Road in West Belfast, a 20-25 minute walk or short bus ride from Belfast city centre. Metro bus routes 10, 10a and 11 run along the Falls Road from the city centre and stop close to the park. On marquee nights, parking around Falls Park is very limited; using public transport or a taxi is the practical choice.
If you are coming from outside Northern Ireland, Belfast rewards a couple of days rather than a single evening. The Titanic Quarter, the Cathedral Quarter, and the murals of the Falls and Shankill Roads are all within easy reach of the festival zone. There is more to see in Belfast and across Co. Antrim.
