At Fermanagh House · Broadmeadow Place, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, BT74 7HR
The Enniskillen Sarcoidosis Support Group meets on the first Monday of every month at Fermanagh House, bringing together people living with sarcoidosis, an uncommon inflammatory disease that can affect the lungs, skin, eyes and other organs and is often slow and difficult to diagnose. Founded in 2011, the group has grown from a handful of local members into an organisation with more than 200 members supporting people across Northern Ireland and beyond, and it describes itself as the only currently active group of its kind in the country. That growth reflects both how isolating a rare diagnosis can be and how much difference a group of people who understand the condition first-hand can make.
Meetings are informal, giving members a chance to share how they manage symptoms, treatment and the day-to-day reality of a condition that many GPs and even some specialists rarely encounter. Beyond the monthly meeting, the group has begun organising bigger events: in April 2026 it held its first ever patient day at Fermanagh House, a full day running from 9:30am to 3pm with medical specialists and patient speakers, open to anyone affected by sarcoidosis from across Ireland rather than just the regular membership. The group is a registered charity, which has allowed it to expand its work beyond peer support into awareness raising and education for the wider public and medical community. Regular monthly meetings remain the backbone of its work, though, giving members a dependable, low-key point of contact every month rather than relying on occasional set-piece events.
