Hats Off to the Forthill

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council’s Hats Off to the Forthill returns to Forthill Park on Friday, 31 July 2026, a free afternoon of family entertainment in one of Enniskillen’s oldest public parks. Sponsored by Share Energy, the event runs from 2pm to 5pm and asks families to bring a picnic and settle in for an afternoon built around the park’s bandstand. There is no admission charge and no need to book.

What to expect

DJ Bob provides live entertainment from the bandstand for the full three hours, backed by a programme aimed squarely at children: Jo Jingles music sessions, balloon modelling, hula hooping and biodiversity activities run by the council’s own countryside team. Cole’s Monument, the column at the top of the park commemorating General Sir Galbraith Lowry Cole, is typically open to visitors on the day, giving families the chance to see it up close rather than just from below. The format has stayed consistent across past editions: free, picnic-friendly and built around the bandstand rather than a stage, so there is no fixed running order to plan around.

Getting there

Forthill Park sits on high ground above Enniskillen town centre, within easy walking distance of the main shopping streets and the bus centre. It is one of the most central green spaces in the town, so on-street parking nearby is limited on a festival afternoon; the town’s main car parks are a short walk away.
