Fermanagh Minor Football Championship

At Various Club Venues · Fermanagh, Co. Fermanagh

Fermanagh Minor Football championship match

The Fermanagh Minor Football Championship is the county’s main underage Gaelic football competition, running across July and August 2026. Under-17 players from clubs across the county compete for the right to call themselves Fermanagh’s best, with each match carrying the weight of local pride and club rivalry that the GAA does so well. If you want to see raw competitive football played by teenagers who genuinely care about winning, this is where to look - the standard in Ulster minor football is high and Fermanagh clubs produce players who go on to represent the county.

What to expect

Matches are played at club grounds across County Fermanagh, from village pitches to larger facilities. The format follows the standard county championship structure - group stages leading to knockout rounds, with the final typically played in late August or September. The atmosphere at club-level GAA is informal and welcoming: supporters of all ages line the pitch, club colours are on display, and there is no distance between the crowd and the action. Fermanagh’s clubs include well-known names such as Enniskillen Gaels, Roslea Shamrocks, Derrygonnelly Harps and Erne Gaels, all of which have strong underage traditions. Specific fixture dates and venues are published through Fermanagh GAA’s website and social channels as the championship progresses, so it is worth checking there before travelling to any individual game.

Getting there

Enniskillen is the county town and the hub of Fermanagh, sitting between Upper and Lower Lough Erne on the A4 road. From Dublin it is roughly two and a half hours by road via Cavan. From Belfast the journey takes around an hour and a quarter on the A4/M1. Bus Eireann and Translink both serve Enniskillen from various directions. For matches at club grounds outside the town, a car is the most practical option - rural Fermanagh is well-signposted but public transport to individual clubs is limited. Parking at GAA grounds is generally available on site or on nearby roadways, with no charge.

While you’re in Enniskillen

Fermanagh rewards a longer stay - Enniskillen Castle sits on the banks of the River Erne and houses two museums, while the Marble Arch Caves Geopark, Devenish Island and Castle Coole are all within easy reach of the town. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
