Fermanagh Scor na nOg 2026

At Various Venues · Fermanagh, Co. Fermanagh

Fermanagh Scor na nOg competition

Scór na nÓg is one of the GAA’s most distinctive competitions - not a match, not a race, but a celebration of Irish traditional culture staged by young people from GAA clubs across Ireland. In Fermanagh, clubs go head to head across eight disciplines of Irish cultural life, with the county final drawing together the best acts from across the county. It suits families and anyone with an interest in Irish music, language and dance, and has an atmosphere closer to a community showcase than a formal arts festival.

What to expect

Competitors must be under 17 and represent their home GAA club. The eight disciplines are Figure and Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation and Scéalaíocht (storytelling), Nuachleas (novelty act), Instrumental Music, Set Dancing, and Table Quiz. Each event is judged, and clubs can enter across multiple disciplines. The format mirrors a GAA championship in miniature - clubs first compete at club level, then district level, then the county final, with county winners progressing to Ulster and potentially the All-Ireland stage where medals are presented by the GAA President.

The Fermanagh county competition runs across July and August 2026 at venues across the county. Specific venue details are published on the Fermanagh GAA website as the competition progresses, so it is worth checking there for confirmed dates and locations for each round.

Getting there

Most Scór na nÓg events in Fermanagh are held at GAA club grounds or community halls spread across the county. Enniskillen, as the county town, is the central hub and easy to reach. It sits on the A4 from Belfast (roughly 90 minutes) and on the N16 from Sligo (around 70 minutes). Bus Éireann and Translink run services into Enniskillen from both directions. For venues outside the town, a car is the practical option as rural bus services in Fermanagh are limited. Parking at GAA club venues is generally on-site and free.

While you’re in Enniskillen

Fermanagh is lough country, and arriving for a Scór event is a good excuse to stay longer and take in the lakes, the waterways, and the town’s own history around Enniskillen Castle. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
