Summer Live Music Festival - Charlie's Bar

At Charlie's Bar · 1 Church Street, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, BT74 7EA

Summer live music at Charlie's Bar

Charlie’s Bar on Church Street has been the beating musical heart of Enniskillen since 1944, and its summer live music programme is the reason locals and visitors make a beeline for this third-generation family pub through July and August. On the 26th of July the bar is running one of its regular summer weekend sessions - free in, live bands, no fuss. If you like proper pub music in a room that has been doing this for eighty years, this is an easy yes.

What to expect

The summer programme at Charlie’s runs across Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in the Downstairs Bar, with Saturday night also spilling into the Upstairs Lounge where the set leans toward modern, country, Irish folk and charts. Weekend visiting artists join a calendar that the bar updates monthly on its website, so the specific line-up for the 26th is worth checking closer to the date.

Sunday evenings at Charlie’s are reserved for the Irish Traditional Group, which plays from 7:30pm - a separate fixture from the weekend band nights but a good reason to stretch a trip into the week. During summer the bar has also hosted outdoor sessions in the side alley (weather dependent), with all musicians welcome to join in the Junior Trad. The whole thing is relaxed and genuinely open - this is a pub that has earned its TripAdvisor Travellers’ Choice award several years running and its Ulster Pub of the Year title without chasing any of it.

Entry to the regular summer sessions is free.

Getting there

Enniskillen sits at the heart of Fermanagh, straddling the River Erne between Lower and Upper Lough Erne. By road it is about 90 minutes from Belfast on the A4 and roughly the same from Dublin via the A3/N16. Bus Eireann and Translink both serve the town - Enniskillen Bus Station is a short walk from Church Street. The town centre is compact and walkable. Street parking and pay-and-display car parks are available nearby; the main Tesco car park on the west bank is often the most practical option for an evening visit.

While you’re in Enniskillen

The town is worth a proper look - Enniskillen Castle, the winding lanes of the old town, and the lakeshore are all within easy reach of Charlie’s front door. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
