Wee Dan and The Mystery at Camp Windybottom

At Ardhowen Theatre · Dublin Road, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh

Wee Dan and The Mystery at Camp Windybottom

Wee Dan has swapped his everyday world for a summer camp - and nothing is going to plan. Written and produced by Conal Gallen and his son Rory, the team behind the bestselling children’s novel Wee Dan’s Big Adventure, this family comedy lands at Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen for a single matinee performance in July 2026. It is aimed squarely at children aged 6 to 13, but the script carries enough wit and pace to keep parents and grandparents laughing too. If your family needs a good day out in Fermanagh during the summer holidays, this is a solid pick.

What to expect

When Wee Dan arrives at Camp Windybottom, a simple summer adventure turns complicated fast. Outrageous characters appear, unexpected twists pile up, and the audience gets pulled in - this is an interactive show, so children can expect to be part of the action rather than just watching it. Alongside Wee Dan is the memorable Eileen Sideways, and the tone throughout is high-energy family comedy rather than quiet storytelling. The running time is approximately one hour, which is well-judged for the target age range. A smoke and haze machine is used during the performance, so worth noting if anyone in your group is sensitive to that. Seats in the front row of the main auditorium may have restricted sightlines if the house is full.

Getting there

Ardhowen Theatre sits on Dublin Road, on the southern edge of Enniskillen town, with its own adjacent car park. Coming from Dublin or the south, the N3/A3 runs directly into Enniskillen; from Belfast, the A4 is the main route through Dungannon and Omagh, or the more scenic A32 from Fermanagh’s east. Bus Éireann and Translink both serve Enniskillen; Ulsterbus routes connect the town to Belfast, Omagh, Sligo and Monaghan. The bus station is about a ten-minute walk from the theatre. Enniskillen town centre has additional public car parks if the theatre car park is busy on performance day.

While you’re in Enniskillen

Enniskillen is the principal town of Fermanagh and makes for a full day out when paired with a matinee show - Enniskillen Castle and Lough Erne are both close by, and the town has a good run of cafes along the main street for pre-show food. There is more to see in Enniskillen and across Co. Fermanagh.
