Tigh He-He Comedy Club Thursday Nights at Roisin Dubh

At Roisin Dubh · 7 Dominick Street, Galway City, Co. Galway

Tigh He-He Comedy Club at Roisin Dubh Galway

Thursday nights at Roisin Dubh have a particular energy to them, and Tigh He-He is a big part of why. This weekly stand-up comedy club has been running at the venue on Dominick Street since 2022, drawing a rotating cast of Irish and international comedians to one of Galway’s most beloved rooms. If you are in the city on a Thursday in August and want a proper night out that does not involve staring at a screen, this is the one.

What to expect

Tigh He-He takes place upstairs in Roisin Dubh, in the intimate club space that sits above the pub floor. The room is small enough that you feel close to the action - there is no bad seat, and the comedians know it. Each week brings a different headliner alongside support acts, so the bill changes from night to night. Past shows have featured the likes of John Colleary, Karl Spain, Emma Doran, Joe Rooney and Glenn Wool, with a mix of established names and rising talent that keeps the nights unpredictable in the best sense. Shows start at 8:00pm and typically run around 90 minutes. Table seating is available, so you can settle in with a drink. The atmosphere leans relaxed and local - this is a pub comedy night, not a formal theatre, and that is exactly what makes it work.

Getting there

Roisin Dubh sits at 7 Dominick Street in Galway’s city centre, a short walk west from Eyre Square. If you are coming by bus, Bus Eireann routes connect Galway to most of the country, and the station is about ten minutes on foot from the venue. Galway is roughly two hours from Dublin and Limerick by road, and around an hour from Sligo. If you are driving, on-street parking is available in the West End area around Dominick Street, and there are public car parks a few minutes’ walk away. Walking is genuinely the easiest option if you are already staying in the city centre.

While you’re in Galway

Galway city is compact and very walkable, with the Latin Quarter, the Spanish Arch and the Salthill promenade all easy to reach on foot. August is busy but lively, and the West End around Dominick Street has good options for food and a pint before the show. There is more to see in Galway and across Co. Galway.
