What to Expect

Cemetery Sunday, sometimes called the Blessing of the Graves, is one of the best-attended dates in the Loughrea parish calendar. Getting There

Loughrea sits on the N65/N6 route in east County Galway, around 30 to 35 minutes’ drive from Galway city and well served from Ballinasloe and Athenry. The Carmelite Abbey is within easy walking distance of Loughrea town centre, with on-street parking and nearby car parks available for those travelling in for the ceremony.
