Galway Junior Hurling Championships 2026

At Various Galway GAA grounds · Various venues, Co. Galway

Hurlers contest a Galway junior club championship match

What to Expect

Beneath the senior and intermediate hurling grades, Galway runs an extensive junior hurling ladder covering Junior A through to Junior F, giving developing and smaller clubs a competitive championship of their own. Confirmed group fixtures from the opening weekend include Carnmore against Turloughmore and Gort Inse Guaire against Meelick-Eyrecourt in Junior A Group 1, and a busy Junior B programme with Athenry versus Oranmore-Maree, Padraig Pearses versus Moycullen, Craughwell versus Kilconieron, Rahoon-Newcastle versus Castlegar and Clarinbridge versus Killimor. Further Junior C, D, E and F fixtures were also played across the same weekend. With so many grades running in parallel, junior hurling accounts for a large share of club activity in Galway through August as group stages play out towards county finals later in the year.

Good to Know

  • The fixtures listed above were played across the weekend of 9-10 August 2026, with group stages continuing on into further rounds through August.
  • Junior hurling in Galway spans six grades, Junior A down to Junior F, so check which division your club or county of interest sits in before looking up fixtures.
  • Matches are hosted at club grounds throughout the county rather than one central venue; Galway GAA’s fixtures page lists ground and throw-in time for each tie.
  • Adult admission to junior grade hurling fixtures is generally lower than senior games, typically in the region of EUR 5-8.
  • These group stages feed into knockout rounds and eventual county finals across the junior grades later in the season.
  • Junior hurling runs alongside the senior and Premier Intermediate hurling championships, which also opened their 2026 campaigns the same week, making early and mid-August a busy period for club hurling right across the county.

Getting There

Fixtures take place at club grounds spread right across County Galway, from Carnmore and Turloughmore near the city to Gort and Meelick-Eyrecourt in south Galway. Confirm the exact venue for your chosen match on galwaygaa.ie before travelling.
