Dead Pioneers at Roisin Dubh

At Roisin Dubh · Galway City, Co. Galway

Dead Pioneers concert

Dead Pioneers bring their charged, high-energy punk to one of Ireland’s best-loved small venues on 8 July 2026. The Colorado-based band, led by vocalist and visual artist Gregg Deal, have been drawing attention across Europe for live sets that hit hard both sonically and emotionally. If you enjoy music that pushes against something - raw guitar-driven punk with real weight behind the words - this is the kind of night Róisín Dubh was built for.

What to expect

Dead Pioneers are a punk and alternative rock band whose sound has been described as “unchained punk anger” meeting complex, layered songwriting. Their 2026 record Wagon Burner is their most ambitious yet, and they are touring it with what the band calls a rigorous global schedule. Gregg Deal’s stage presence is rooted in his work as a visual artist and activist - the show is physical and confrontational in the best sense, mixing dark humour with music that gets under your skin.

Róisín Dubh itself is a compact standing venue on Dominick Street Upper in Galway’s West End. It has a deserved reputation as one of the best grassroots music spots in Ireland, winning the IMRO Best Venue in Connacht award and providing a platform for emerging and touring acts that the bigger rooms won’t touch. All gigs are standing, so expect a packed floor close to the stage. The bar is part of the experience. Seating can usually be arranged if you need it - worth contacting the venue directly in advance.

Getting there

Galway City is roughly two hours from Dublin by road (M6) and a similar time by Bus Éireann or Citylink coach. Irish Rail runs a direct service from Heuston Station in Dublin to Ceannt Station in Galway, with journey times around two hours ten minutes. From the station, the walk to Róisín Dubh on Dominick Street Upper takes about fifteen minutes on foot.

There is no parking at the venue. Street parking in Galway city centre is limited in the evenings, so the Westside or Fairgreen car parks are the most practical options if you are driving. Many people choose to take a taxi or walk from their accommodation.

While you’re in Galway

Galway is a city worth spending a night in - the West End pubs, the Latin Quarter, and Salthill seafront are all within easy reach of Dominick Street. There is more to see in Galway and across Co. Galway.
