What to Expect

SISCO is Galway’s long-running silent disco, held every single Tuesday at Roisin Dubh with no season off. Everyone gets a pair of wireless headphones and DJs Ted and Gugai split the sound across channels - one side running current dance and chart tracks, the other digging into guilty-pleasure throwbacks and singalong classics, so you can switch mid-song depending on what you’re in the mood for. It’s a genuinely odd, genuinely fun format if you’ve never done one: half the room dancing to a completely different song than the person next to them, and the room falling almost silent whenever enough people slip their headphones off at once to hear themselves think. Every ticket comes with a free shot of Jagermeister to get the night started. It’s become a fixture of the Galway Tuesday night out precisely because it’s so different from the trad sessions and rock cover bands filling most of the city’s other midweek venues - a lighter, sillier option for anyone who wants to dance without committing to a full weekend club night, and it draws a mixed crowd of students and locals who come back week after week.

Getting There

Roisin Dubh is on Dominick Street Upper in Galway City, on the west side of the river, a short walk from Eyre Square and right in the middle of the Latin Quarter and West End bar circuit, so it’s easy to pair with a few pints beforehand and a chip shop stop on the way home afterwards.
