At Town Hall Theatre · Courthouse Square, Galway City, Co. Galway
Ballet Ireland’s touring production of Romeo and Juliet stops at Town Hall Theatre for two nights this November, part of a national tour that runs from late October right through to mid-December 2026. The Galway dates come early in that tour, a few days after the opening performances in Newtownabbey and Derry, and well ahead of the company’s later stops in Dublin, Limerick and beyond.
The production brings Shakespeare’s best-known tragedy to the stage through dance, set to Prokofiev’s score, with choreography built around the doomed romance between the two title characters and the feuding families around them. Ballet Ireland tours as a full company production rather than a scaled-down regional version, so Galway audiences see the same staging that opens the tour in the north before it heads on to venues including the Gaiety in Dublin and Lime Tree in Limerick. It suits anyone who enjoys classical narrative ballet, as well as newcomers drawn in by a familiar story told without dialogue.
Both Galway performances are evening shows, at 8pm on the Friday and Saturday, giving a rare two-night run in a city that more often gets a single touring date from national dance companies.
Town Hall Theatre is on Courthouse Square in Galway city centre, a short walk from Eyre Square and the city’s bus and rail stations. Bus Eireann and GoBus run frequent services from Dublin, Limerick, Sligo and other towns, and Galway’s Ceannt train station is about ten minutes on foot from the theatre. The nearest city-centre car parks are on Merchant’s Road and at Jurys Inn.
Early November puts the show right in the run-up to Baboro and the city’s winter arts calendar, so it’s worth checking what else is on around the same dates. There is more to see in Galway and across Co. Galway.
