Glasnevin Car Boot Sale

At Glasnevin Venue · Glasnevin, Dublin 11

Glasnevin Car Boot Sale

Every Sunday morning in Glasnevin, a car boot sale sets up in a school car park on the north side of Dublin city. Sellers arrive before eight, lay out what they have across bonnets and folding tables, and by mid-morning you can have a proper rummage through decades of household accumulation - furniture, crockery, old tools, clothes, vinyl, toys, books, and the occasional curiosity that is hard to categorise. Entry for browsers costs €2, which makes it a low-risk morning out for anyone who enjoys a deal or just wants to see what turns up. It suits bargain hunters, collectors, people furnishing a first flat, or anyone who prefers a rummage over a retail park.

What to expect

Sellers bring a mix of household goods, electronics, furniture, collectibles, and the kind of miscellaneous items that never quite fit anywhere else. Quality and quantity vary week to week - some mornings it is quiet, others the car park fills up properly. The best selection tends to go early, so arriving close to 8am puts you ahead of most shoppers. Because the event is outdoors and weather-dependent, it is worth checking with the organiser before making a long journey, particularly if rain is forecast. There is typically parking on site.

Getting there

Glasnevin is a northside Dublin suburb about 4 km from the city centre, well connected by road and bus. The N1 / Finglas Road corridor runs nearby, making it straightforward to reach by car from the M1 or the city. Several Dublin Bus routes serve the area - lines 4, 9, and 40 all pass through or close to Glasnevin, and the route out along Botanic Road or Finglas Road will get you close. If coming by car, on-site parking is available at the venue.

While you’re in Glasnevin

The area is home to the National Botanic Gardens, a free public attraction worth an hour before or after the sale, and Glasnevin Cemetery is one of the more remarkable historic sites in Dublin - the museum there is genuinely good. There is more to see in Glasnevin and across Co. Dublin.
