At Royal Marine Hotel · Royal Marine Hotel, Dublin
The Irish Card Market brings together collectors, players, and curious newcomers for a free day of trading card games at the Royal Marine Hotel in Dún Laoghaire. Spread across two floors of the hotel, this is one of the bigger gatherings of its kind in Ireland - the kind of event where you might find the card you’ve been chasing for months, or finally learn to play a game you’ve only watched on YouTube. It suits everyone from experienced traders who come with binders full of singles, to families bringing children along for a first look at the hobby.
The event covers the main trading card games - Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and Yu-Gi-Oh! - with vendor stalls across two floors where you can browse, buy, sell, and trade. Free play zones are set up so you can sit down, challenge other players, learn the basics of a game, or crack open a booster pack and see what you pull. The atmosphere tends to be relaxed and social rather than competitive; the organisers bill it as family-friendly and the doors are open to all ages. VIP ticket holders get access from 10am, with general entry from 11am. The market runs through until 5pm, giving you a full afternoon to work the room properly.
The Royal Marine Hotel sits on Marine Road in Dún Laoghaire, a short walk from the DART station. Take any southbound DART from Pearse or Tara Street in Dublin city centre and get off at Dún Laoghaire - the journey takes around 25 minutes. The hotel is a few minutes on foot from the station. If you’re driving from Dublin, the N11 / Stillorgan Road south is the main route; parking is available at the hotel and in pay car parks around the seafront.
Dún Laoghaire sits on the southern shore of Dublin Bay, and after the market you can walk along the East Pier, browse the Sunday food market, or take the coastal path towards Sandycove. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
