At O'Reilly Theatre · O'Reilly Theatre, Belvedere College, Dublin 1
Kanan Gill is one of the biggest names in English-language stand-up to come out of India, and his Not This Again tour brings him to Dublin for what is a genuinely rare Irish date. If you know his work from his Netflix special Yours Sincerely or the Amazon Prime special Keep It Real, you will know what to expect: sharp, self-aware observational comedy with a clean delivery and a tendency to go somewhere unexpected. If you don’t know him yet, this is a good place to start. The show suits anyone who enjoys thoughtful stand-up that earns its laughs rather than going for easy targets.
Not This Again is Gill’s current touring show, following a run of dates across the UK, Europe and North America. He built his audience through the YouTube series Pretentious Movie Reviews before establishing himself on the live circuit and on streaming. His comedy tends to run on personal reflection and a dry, precise comic rhythm - the kind of set that rewards attention.
The O’Reilly Theatre is a comfortable 500-seat receiving house inside Belvedere College on Great Denmark Street, with raked seating, good sightlines and a full bar. It is one of the better mid-sized venues in Dublin city for this sort of show - intimate enough that you are never far from the stage, and well-equipped on the technical side. Doors open at 7:00pm for an 8:00pm start. The show is 18+ and no photography or video recording is permitted during the performance.
The O’Reilly Theatre is at 6 Great Denmark Street, Dublin 1, a short walk north of O’Connell Street. From the city centre it is about five minutes on foot. The Luas Red Line stops at Abbey Street, from where it is a ten-minute walk. Connolly DART and rail station is also about ten minutes away on foot. If you are driving, the nearest car park is the Euro Car Parks facility at the Mater Hospital on Eccles Street. On-street parking is available on Great Denmark Street and the surrounding streets but spaces fill quickly in the evening.
Great Denmark Street sits near the top of the Georgian northside, close to North Great George’s Street and Parnell Square - a good part of the city for a meal or a drink before the show. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
