Michael Collins Band & Louise Morrissey - Gleneagle Entertainment

At Gleneagle Hotel Ballroom · Muckross Road, Killarney, Co. Kerry

Michael Collins Band Dance Night

Thursday nights in July and August have long had a particular rhythm in Killarney, and the Michael Collins Band and Louise Morrissey dance series at the Gleneagle Hotel Ballroom sits right at the centre of it. This is a live Irish country music show built for dancing - a proper night out where the floor fills early and stays that way. If you enjoy well-crafted country and easy-listening ballads delivered by two performers who have been doing this for decades and genuinely know how to work a room, this is the kind of evening that does not disappoint.

What to expect

Michael Collins is a Cork musician with a long career in Irish country music, known for warm vocals and a relaxed stage presence that draws crowds in rather than performing at them. Louise Morrissey - also from Cork - brings over 40 years on the circuit to the stage, with a catalogue that runs from classic country favourites and Irish ballads to the dancehall standards that keep older audiences on their feet and introduce younger ones to why those songs still hold up. Together they put together a mix of heartfelt ballads and lively dance tunes, with the balance shifting across the night.

The venue is the Gleneagle Hotel Ballroom - a dedicated space for this kind of entertainment, with a proper dancefloor rather than a cleared pub back room. The event runs as part of Gleneagle SummerFest, the hotel’s annual summer programme of weekly live entertainment. Under-18s are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Hotel residents get complimentary entry; non-residents pay €20 on the door.

Getting there

Killarney is well connected by rail from Cork, Dublin and Limerick, with the station a short walk from the town centre. The Gleneagle Hotel is on Muckross Road, about 1.5 km south of the town centre - an easy walk or a quick taxi. Bus Eireann routes serve Killarney from surrounding towns. If you are driving, the N71 brings you directly onto Muckross Road and the hotel has parking on site.

While you’re in Killarney

An evening at the Gleneagle pairs well with a day in Killarney National Park or a loop of the Ring of Kerry if you are staying over. There is more to see in Killarney and across Co. Kerry.
