At Killarney Sports Hall · Killarney Sports Hall, Killarney, Co. Kerry
Killarney Badminton Club’s annual summer tournament is a three-day competition that draws players from across Kerry and Munster every August. If you play badminton at any level - beginner through to seasoned club competitor - this is one of the better local tournaments in the south-west. The singles, doubles, and mixed doubles format means there is a realistic entry path whether you want to play solo or pair up with a partner, and the open-skill-level structure keeps it genuinely competitive without shutting out newer players.
The tournament runs over three days - 10 to 12 August 2026 - starting at 10:00am each morning at Killarney Sports Hall. Competition is split across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events with age group categories, so matches tend to be well-matched. The courts are set up to tournament standard with line judges in place, and prizes go to category winners. Entry is open to both club members and non-members, which makes it accessible if you are visiting Kerry and want a competitive hit during your trip. Pre-entry is strongly recommended as events fill up. Entry fees start from €18 per event.
Killarney is well connected by road and rail. From Dublin, the N7/M7 and M8 take you down through Cork and on to Kerry; the drive is roughly four hours. From Cork city, allow about 90 minutes. Killarney train station sits right in the town centre, on the Cork-Tralee line, with several services daily from both Cork and Dublin Heuston (change at Mallow). Bus Eireann also serves the town from several major cities. Killarney town has a reasonable amount of parking near the town centre; street parking and pay car parks are the norm, and Sports Hall events typically draw enough traffic that arriving a little early is a good idea on the first morning.
The tournament runs for three days, which leaves plenty of time to get out into the surrounding landscape between matches. Killarney National Park is on the doorstep, with the lakes, Torc Waterfall, and Muckross House all within easy reach. There is more to see in Killarney and across Co. Kerry.
