At Westport Golf Club · Golf Course Road, Carrowholly, Westport, Co. Mayo, F28 VY07
Westport Golf Club’s parkland course at Carrowholly hosts one of Golf Ireland’s regional Connacht Girls Festivals on 10 August 2026, a coaching-first event aimed at getting more under-18 girls into the game regardless of experience. It is open to golfers with a WHS Handicap Index of 18.0 or higher, as well as girls with no handicap established yet, which in practice means it is built for beginners and improvers rather than a competitive junior tournament.
The day is run by a PGA professional with support from Golf Ireland staff, and splits into coaching and play. After registration, the morning session covers short game, driving and putting technique, followed by a run of on-course competitions designed to put the coaching into practice straight away rather than saving it for another day. Lunch and drinks are provided partway through, and organisers frame the day as much a social occasion as a golf clinic, a chance for girls who have met at previous festivals to catch up alongside newcomers finding their feet. Free parking is available at the club for the day.
Westport Golf Club sits at Carrowholly, a few kilometres outside Westport town on the road toward Newport, overlooking Clew Bay. From Westport town centre it is a short drive, around ten minutes; there is no direct bus route to the club itself, so parents dropping off are best arriving by car. Westport itself is well served by rail from Dublin Heuston and by Bus Eireann from Galway and Castlebar.
