At Siamsa Tíre Theatre & Arts Centre · Godfrey Place, Tralee, Co. Kerry
0800 Cupid is an original musical theatre show written and performed by Emer Dineen, produced by Dublin company ThisIsPopBaby. It arrives at Siamsa Tíre in Tralee for two nights in July as part of a nationwide summer tour. Part rave, part concert, part confessional theatre, the show charts a tumultuous year in Dineen’s life in London - post-pandemic chaos, information overload, and the experience of caring for a parent through dementia. The Irish Times called it “hilarious, heartfelt theatre” and the Irish Examiner named it a highlight of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2024. If you want something that breaks the mould of conventional musical theatre, this is it. Recommended for ages 14 and over.
0800 Cupid does not sit still in one genre. Expect live music, drag, cabaret energy, and a storytelling honesty that catches you off guard. Dineen co-composed the score with musical director Tom Beech, with additional production from Irish EDM artist Elaine Mai - so the soundscape shifts between camp and high-octane and something genuinely moving.
The show also carries personal weight on this tour. Emer Dineen’s father, Denis “Peter” Dineen - himself a former actor who performed in many of the same Irish theatres the tour visits - passed away in April 2026, just as rehearsals were about to begin. The tour is dedicated to his memory, and a fundraiser in aid of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and Engaging Dementia runs alongside it. That context sits underneath the show without overwhelming it; audiences in Cork and Sligo have found it lands all the harder for it.
Tickets are priced at €20 general admission and €18 concession (plus booking fee). The venue has an Access Welcome Guide - contact Siamsa Tíre directly if you have specific accessibility requirements.
