Aoife Dunne: Good Grief

At Set Theatre Kilkenny · John Street, Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny

Aoife Dunne performs her stand-up show Good Grief at the Set Theatre, Kilkenny

Comedian Aoife Dunne brings her debut show Good Grief to the Set Theatre in Kilkenny on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 8pm, presented by The Collaborations Agency. The date was added to an already extended 2026 run after Dunne sold out her entire 2025 tour, which included the Edinburgh Fringe, Galway International Arts Festival and a string of major Irish theatre dates. The Set Theatre’s own listing notes it as a fully seated show for over-18s unless otherwise stated.

What to expect

Good Grief mixes stand-up, theatrical storytelling and, in the venue’s words, “moments of profound emotional truth,” as Dunne explores the loss of her mother and the strange, sometimes hilarious, ways people find to cope. It has been rated four stars by Chortle and is described by the Set Theatre as “a rising force in Irish comedy and storytelling” bringing “humour, heartbreak and razor-sharp insight” to the stage. It is pitched as a show that can make an audience laugh and cry in the same hour rather than a straight club set, and it has drawn praise from critics and audiences on its earlier tour dates for its warmth and wit.

Getting there

The Set Theatre is part of the Langton House Hotel on John Street in Kilkenny city centre, within easy walking distance of the Parade and Market Cross. Kilkenny’s train and bus station on Dublin Road is about a ten-minute walk, and pay parking is available nearby, including at the Ormonde Road multi-storey.

While you’re in Kilkenny

John Street has plenty of bars and restaurants for a meal before the show, and it sits close to Kilkenny Castle and the medieval streets around the Parade. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
