Veteran Northern Irish comedian Tim McGarry brings his stand-up show The Height of Nonsense to The Court House in Bangor for two consecutive nights, Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 August 2026. Following on from his earlier “Ridiculous” tour, McGarry takes aim at modern anxieties, from rolling news cycles to social media metrics, with a reassuring message that, as he puts it, “there’s nothing to worry about, it’s all nonsense.” The set is built around encouraging the audience to relax and have a good laugh rather than stress about the state of the world. Both performances are theatre-seated in the Court House’s main Court Room and restricted to over-18s.
The Court House stands on the seafront at Quay Street, a short walk from Bangor’s railway station on the Belfast to Bangor Translink line. The building is a restored Victorian listed courthouse, now run as a non-profit music and arts venue by the charity behind Bangor’s Open House Festival, and it sits within easy reach of pay-and-display car parking along the harbour front.
The Court House sits right on the harbour, so it is easy to combine a comedy night with an early evening walk along Bangor’s marina and seafront before the show. The town has a range of bars and restaurants within a few minutes’ walk of the venue, useful given the 7:30pm doors time leaves little slack for a sit-down meal beforehand elsewhere.
