At Set Theatre Kilkenny · John Street, Kilkenny, Co. Kilkenny
Comedian Shane Todd plays the Set Theatre in Kilkenny on Friday, 4 September 2026, bringing his new stand-up show Hold Me Back to the John Street venue. It follows his sell-out show Full House, and the Set Theatre’s own listing describes Todd’s world tour as “headed for Kilkenny” on the back of that success. The show starts at 8pm and, like other Set Theatre comedy bookings, is a fully seated event.
Todd is billed on the venue’s own comedy listing around his “signature wit, razor-sharp storytelling, and a complete inability to take himself seriously.” Beyond his live stand-up work, he hosts the Tea With Me podcast and has performed in some of the world’s best-known comedy clubs, giving Hold Me Back the pedigree of a comic who has spent recent years building an international following before bringing the new hour home to Ireland. As with the venue’s other comedy nights, the show is for over-18s unless otherwise specified, and once bought, tickets cannot be refunded unless the event itself is cancelled.
The Set Theatre sits inside the Langton House Hotel complex on John Street in Kilkenny city centre, a short walk from the Parade and the Market Cross shopping area. Kilkenny’s train and bus station on Dublin Road is roughly a ten-minute walk away, and there is pay parking nearby, including at the Ormonde Road multi-storey close to the venue.
John Street has a good spread of bars and restaurants for a pre-show meal, and it is a short stroll from the medieval heart of the city around Kilkenny Castle and the Parade. There is more to see in Kilkenny and across Co. Kilkenny.
