At Bord Gais Energy Theatre · Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2
Legally Blonde - The Musical runs at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre for two weeks in July 2026, and it is exactly the kind of show that earns its run. Starring Amber Davies as Elle Woods, this touring production brings full West End scale to Dublin’s Docklands - live band, ensemble choreography, and pop-rock songs that lodge in your head on the walk back to the DART. It suits teenagers and adults well; the writing has a sharper edge than the pink costumes might suggest.
Based on the 2001 film, the musical follows Elle from her sorority at UCLA to Harvard Law School, where she enrols to win back an ex-boyfriend and ends up proving something bigger. Directed by Nikolai Foster - who previously staged the touring production of Kinky Boots - the show runs 2 hours 20 minutes including one interval.
Amber Davies - known from Strictly Come Dancing and the West End runs of Pretty Woman and 9 to 5 the Musical - plays Elle for most performances; Hannah Lowther covers on the Wednesday 8 and Thursday 16 July matinees. The production uses strobe lighting, smoke and haze. Under-16s must be with an adult; no children under three. Doors open an hour before curtain.
Bord Gais Energy Theatre sits on Grand Canal Square in the Docklands. The DART stops at Grand Canal Dock, roughly five minutes on foot. By Luas Red Line, alight at Mayor Square - NCI and cross the Samuel Beckett Bridge (about five minutes). Dublin Bus routes C1, C2, C3 and 56a all serve nearby stops. If driving, the Grand Canal Square car park on Chimney View off Pearse Street is the closest option - pre-book on evening show nights.
Grand Canal Square faces the basin and the whole Docklands quarter rewards an early arrival - there are restaurants and bars within a few minutes of the theatre for a pre-show meal. There is more to see in Dublin and across Co. Dublin.
