What to Expect

The Joe Mooney Summer School is a world-renowned week-long intensive programme in traditional Irish music, song, and dance. Musicians and dancers from across the globe gather in Drumshanbo to study with master teachers, participate in group workshops, and perform at evening céilís and concerts. The school combines structured learning with social and performance opportunities.

Good to Know

The 36th edition runs from 18 to 25 July 2026. Classes are organised by instrument and skill level (beginner, intermediate, advanced). Evening social dances, céilís, and concerts are held throughout the week. Registration typically opens in spring, and early booking is recommended as the school attracts hundreds of participants annually.

Getting There

Drumshanbo is located in central County Leitrim, approximately 40km south of Sligo town. The venue is easily accessible by car, and accommodation is available in and around the town.
