Limerick Pride Festival 2026

At Limerick City Centre and Perry Square · Perry Square, Limerick City, Co. Limerick

Limerick Pride Festival parade and celebration

Limerick Pride Festival 2026 runs from Monday 6 July to Saturday 11 July, with a full week of community events before the main parade brings the city centre to life. The theme this year is “Pride in Our Community” - a deliberate focus on the local LGBTQ+ organisations, allies, and friendships that have built the festival over the years. It is free to attend the core events and entirely open to everyone, from long-time attendees to people coming for the first time. Families are well catered for, and the atmosphere across the week tends to be inclusive and neighbourhood-focused rather than purely nightlife-driven.

What to expect

The festival opens on Monday 6 July with an official launch event, and the programme builds through the week. Highlights include a Drag Masterclass with Wimsey at GOSHH on Davis Street (Tuesday, ticketed at €20), a Print with Pride session at Limerick Printmakers (Wednesday, 5pm-6:30pm), a Pride Dance Party at Dance Limerick (Wednesday, 6:30pm-8:30pm), and a Pop Up LGBTQ Book Club at Limerick City Library (Thursday, 6:30pm-7:30pm). The Belltable theatre hosts “For Dolores” on both Thursday and Friday evenings.

The week peaks on Saturday 11 July with the Pride Parade. Crowds gather at Pery Square from 1pm, with the parade stepping off at 2:15pm sharp - routing along Glentworth Street and Henry Street before finishing at the Hunt Museum on Rutland Street. The Grand Marshal this year is Limerick LGBT Sarsfields Rugby Club. Immediately after the parade, the Hunt Museum hosts a free, family-friendly PrideFest from 2:45pm to 5:45pm, with live music, face painting, children’s storytelling, food vendors, and sensory quiet rooms available. Saturday evening closes at Dolans with the Climax Party from 8:30pm.

Worth noting: Limerick has been awarded EuroPride 2028, which will bring an estimated 100,000 to 300,000 visitors to the city. The 2026 festival is, in part, a celebration of that milestone - so there is a particular energy around this year’s event.

Getting there

Limerick city centre is easily reached by road via the M7 (from Dublin, approximately two hours) or the N20 (from Cork, around one hour). Irish Rail operates regular services into Colbert Station on Parnell Street - the station sits directly beside Pery Square, which makes it one of the more straightforward public transport arrivals for any Irish festival. Bus Éireann connects Limerick with most major towns. For those driving, the city has several multi-storey car parks near the centre; Arthur’s Quay and Steamboat Quay are both within easy walking distance of the parade route.

While you’re in Limerick

The city has more going on than most visitors expect - King John’s Castle on the banks of the Shannon, the Hunt Museum’s art collection, and a genuinely good food and pub scene along the main streets. There is more to see in Limerick and across Co. Limerick.
