Artist Debbie Godsell shows a new collaborative project made with local residents at St Carthage Hall in Lismore, running from Saturday, 22 August to Sunday, 20 September 2026. The exhibition is presented by Lismore Castle Arts, the contemporary art gallery based in the grounds of Lismore Castle in west Waterford. St Carthage Hall, a converted chapel in the town, opened as a gallery space in 2011 and is used for community focused and project based shows that run alongside the main programme at the castle.
The show grows out of Godsell inviting local residents to collaborate directly on the work, part of Lismore Castle Arts’s long standing community engagement programme, which the gallery describes as building deeply embedded, long term relationships between visiting artists and the town. Lismore Castle Arts was established in 2005 under curator and director Paul McAree and has built a reputation for presenting significant contemporary art in a small rural town, alongside a sculpture yard of permanent outdoor works and a learning and community programme run separately from the main gallery’s exhibition schedule. Expect a show shaped as much by the people of Lismore as by the artist herself, in a format that differs from the gallery’s larger imported exhibitions in the main castle gallery.
St Carthage Hall is in Lismore town in west Waterford, on the N72 road between Cappoquin and Fermoy. The hall is separate from the main Lismore Castle Arts gallery inside the castle grounds and is reached on foot within the town itself.
