Ballina Fringe Festival runs October 2-11, 2026, now in its ninth year. It is a celebration of theatre, music, film, literature, visual art and street performance. The festival showcases work from artists at all career stages and includes a new youth-led festival (for ages 15-18) designed by young people for young people. The annual film festival returns with submissions featuring films shot entirely on smartphones/mobile devices on the theme of ‘Resilience’.
The festival has open calls welcoming emerging artists, filmmakers and youth from North Mayo and beyond. It is rooted in inclusivity and creativity, providing a live festival audience for new and developing artists. The Mary Robinson Centre and Creative Ireland Programme support the festival.
Ballina is located in north County Mayo, accessible by car from Castlebar (45 minutes), Westport (50 minutes) and other Mayo towns.
