What to Expect

The Bru na Boinne Visitor Centre is the gateway to the Newgrange and Knowth passage tombs - two of the world’s most significant Neolithic monuments, older than the Egyptian pyramids and designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. All access to the passage tombs is by guided OPW tour only, with shuttle buses running from the visitor centre. The standard tour includes the visitor centre exhibition and guided visits to both Knowth and the Newgrange chamber, lasting approximately three hours. The Newgrange chamber famously aligns with the winter solstice sunrise.
