At Knightsbrook Hotel Spa and Golf Resort · Dublin Road, Trim, Co. Meath
WonderWorld Productions have been running their Fairy School show for nine years now, and it has earned a genuine following among families across Ireland. This is not a passive performance you watch from a seat - children aged 3 to 8 are the participants, learning fairy skills and completing their training over the course of 90 minutes. It suits young children who are at the age when magic feels entirely real, and parents who want an outing with some structure and a proper payoff at the end. The Knightsbrook Hotel in Trim makes a good setting: a large, comfortable four-star resort with space to manage a crowd of excited small people.
From the moment it starts, the show pulls children into the world of fairies, unicorns and mermaids. The session blends storytelling, dance, magic spells and games, with themes of friendship, kindness, bravery and good deeds woven through it all. There is a mindfulness strand to the programme too - unusual for a children’s show, and genuinely well handled according to audience reviews across previous dates. Theatre-trained performers from WonderWorld lead the training, keeping the energy up while making each child feel like an active part of the story. The requirement for entry, as the organisers put it, is simple: belief in fairies.
Every child who completes their fairy training graduates with a set of fairy wings, a crown and a magic wand to keep. These are included in the child ticket price. An optional Fairy Invitation Pack - an official invitation plus extra fairy gifts sent by tracked post before the event - is available to add on at booking. Places are limited and previous dates have sold out, so booking early is worth doing.
Knightsbrook Hotel sits on the Dublin Road (R161) on the edge of Trim, about a kilometre from the town centre. From Dublin, the most direct route is the N3 out through Blanchardstown, then the R154 into Trim - roughly 50 minutes from the city. Free on-site parking is available at the hotel. There is no direct rail link to Trim; Bus Eireann runs services from Busaras in Dublin to Navan, from where local buses connect to Trim, but for an event like this with young children, driving is the practical choice.
Trim is one of the best-preserved heritage towns in Leinster, with Trim Castle - the largest Anglo-Norman castle in Ireland - sitting right on the river. After the show, a walk along the Boyne to the castle is an easy 15 minutes from Knightsbrook and holds the attention of children who have just spent 90 minutes in a world of magic and adventure. There is more to see in Trim and across Co. Meath.
